"Divided Politics, Divided Nation:
Hyperconflict in the Trump Era" (Brookings Press, 2019)
The United States is caught in a partisan hyperconflict
that divides politicians, communities, and even families.
Drawing on his personal experiences growing up on a dairy
farm in rural Ohio, teaching in the liberal Ivy League,
and working in the heart of the D.C. establishment,
Darrell West analyzes the political, economic, and
cultural aspects of polarization. He uses conversations
with family members and friends, news articles, public
opinion data, and social media posts to explain why
liberals and conservatives are angry with each other.
