Brown Conference to Explore Health Care in Rhode Island, April 4-5, 2002(posted March 29, 2002) The Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University will sponsor a conference "Health Care in an Aging Society" on April 4-5 in Sayles Hall on the campus green. Congressman Charles Norwood of Georgia will deliver the keynote speech at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April. 4 on the health care revolution and his patient's bill of rights. At noon, Friday, Rhode Island gubernatorial candidates Sheldon Whitehouse, Myrth York, James Bennett, Bernard Jackvony, and Don Carcieri will discuss their ideas for improving Rhode Island health care. Health care experts Judith Feder of Georgetown University, Bruce Vladeck of Mount Sinai NYU Health, and Patricia Nolan, director of the Rhode Island Dept. of Health will discuss "who should pay for quality health care" at 10:30 a.m. Friday. All events will be held in Sayles Hall on the campus green and are free and open to the public. The conference is co-sponsored by the Taubman Center, Brown Medical School and the Rhode Island Health Care Leadership Collaborative (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island, CVS, Lifespan, and the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy) |
