Cicilline Will End Car Tow List (posted July 23, 2002) Providence Democratic Mayorial candidate David Cicilline indicated he would abolish the car tow list if elected mayor. Appearing July 21 on the WJAR-TV show "10 News Conference" with Jim Taricani, the candidate said he would either open up the list to any qualified towing company or would consider the establishment of a municipal towing enterprise that would bring in much needed revenue to the city. Cicilline publicly called for an "outside, professional audit" of city books to see whether proper procedures were being followed in hiring and spending. He also outlined his proposal for a "one-stop business center" designed to help businesses deal with permitting, licenses, and investment. |
