Voter Registration in Rhode Island
Voter registration in Rhode Island has reached a new all-time high, according to data from the office of Secretary of States James Langevin. As shown below, the number of registered voters has risen from 466,878 in 1970 to 624,641. Since 1998, registration has risen by nearly 13,000 voters or around 2.5 percent. The increase reflects both the aging of the population and the political polarization of the last decade that has attracted more voters to the political process.
