Reed's Dinner With Castro
U.S. Senator Jack Reed recently had dinner with Cuban President Fidel Castro. In Havana with Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy for a weekend baseball game between Cuba and the Baltimore Orioles, Reed enjoyed a late-night meal with the Cuban leader that lasted until 1 a.m. According to Roll Call newspaper, Reed said, "It was a fascinating meeting. He's very personable....As a cadet at West Point, I didn't think I would ever be having supper with Fidel Castro."
